49265Roadrunner Meets Sonic

Roadrunner's revenge.

The road sign in the 3rd panel is Wile E. Coyote falling off a cliff.

Mr MagicMay 23, 2022View
49264A short old film about going grocery shopping

Thank you MM!

The flip-side of commercial refrigeration is keeping the cold at home. I'm old enough to remember seeing ice boxes for home use. The standardization of electricity made the sales of refrigerators a real boom after WWII.

Keeping cold foods cold, and frozen food frozen, made daily shopping a thing of the past. Being able to shop once a week, or even once a month, transformed everyday life!
eddstarrMay 23, 2022View
49263Roadrunner Meets Sonic
Posting it tommorow.

There's also an ending I think you'll find hilarious!
Mr MagicMay 23, 2022View
49262Chip N Dale
Watched it last night, I think I would've enjoyed it more had I watched the show as a kid. It was fun but it did seem like a poor man's Rojer Rabbit and sort of like Detetcive Pikachu as well. Its funny because my daugter has been watching the orignal cartoon on Disney Plus all day. I'm surprised by the vibrant color and animation quality, visually I feel it blows a lot of similar era cartoons out of the water.
vkimoMay 23, 2022View

49259Chip N Dale
i've seen on twitter posts that peter pan's backstory is based on bobby driscoll's harsh experience with disney, i can't say i was expecting that but yeah, it's awfully dark when you think about it.
BenjanimeMay 22, 2022View

49257A short old film about going grocery shopping

Before the 1940's, grocery shopping usually involved canned goods - like La Choy Chow Mein.

Growing up, I actually didn't know how novel the idea of a "Supermarket" truly was. In my grandparents day local markets supplied a limited selection of products. Fresh produce was seasonal and limited in distribution. Fresh dairy products were also limited to proximity to a dairy farm that offered delivery.

Widespread availability of perishable foods only happened with transport temperature control systems (refrigeration) for trucks, tractor trailers, shipboard containers and railway cars. Commercial refrigeration in the 1940's made possible frozen foods, large supermarkets, and the modern restaurant industry. Refrigerated transport made the delivery of fresh produce anywhere in the country a possibility, regardless of the season!
eddstarrMay 21, 2022View
