For example, on RetroJunk, there is a Spongebob article from 2005. One person says that eight years isn't old enough for something to be retro, then another person replies using curse words.

Why are "teenagers" so desperate for their childhoods to be "retro"?
Curse words? Real mature. Curse words are only for folks who have nothing intelligent to say. | Mr Magic | Oct 13, 2013 | ![]() |

Better times or not, teenagers should be looking to their future, not their past.
Agreed. Solemnly reflecting on good times is something we love doing and sharing here. Wishing time away for yourself to be grouped into something because you consider it somehow cool, that's not healthy. | Vaporman87 | Oct 13, 2013 | ![]() |

Perhaps because those years were genuinely BETTER to be growing up in than now. I can't say for sure. I do know that I sometimes wish I could spend a great deal of time living in the 50's or early 60's. That would be awesome.
I've sometimes wished that I could be a bit older too, but when I was a teenager, I didn't go around name-calling older people and saying "things have changed from three years ago, how dare you say it's not retro". | 4242 | Thanksgiving Nostalgia & More! | I have clearer memories of Thanksgivings past than I do Halloweens and Trick-or-Treating. Some I can think of at the moment... We usually ate Thanksgiving dinner at the "Dining Room" table instead of the kitchen table, and mom would break out the fine china from the massive curio in there. I remember anxiously anticipating A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving coming on the television after Thanksgiving dinner. I remember anxiously anticipating a MST3K marathon after one particular Thanksgiving dinner. I remember the smell of the food, then seating arrangements, lots of small details like that. And that I dislike cranberry sauce. Nowadays, Thanksgiving is great. We eat together, and then I desperately try to find a way to get the Macy's Parade on the television without access to cable tv, satellite, or basic antenna. LOL | Vaporman87 | Oct 13, 2013 | ![]() |

| 4240 | Thanksgiving Nostalgia & More! | I also remember going to my grandmother's house a lot as a kid, and just being with her and the family for Thanksgiving. It was always a long drive, but it was worth it to be together. | Mr Magic | Oct 13, 2013 | ![]() |
