3833Things you don't like about this era.Another thing that bothers me about this era is how there are pageants where toddler girls dress like hookers. If you've heard of Toddlers & Tiaras, you know what I mean. Parents, I encourage you not to let your little ones be a part of this fiasco.Mr MagicSep 29, 2013View
3832Things you don't like about this era.Our extreme dependence on mobile devices for one. I am more than happy that in this day and age, we have the internet. But I really just think our connection to the internet should end at the door of our house. Also, the originality of films is at an all time low. Games have taken over where movies are failing. Games like Elder Scrolls and the Mass Effect series explore amazing new worlds and create truly fascinating stories, something that used to belong solely to the movie industry (in a visual and auditory sense) Our knowledge of politics and of political ideology are also at all time lows. There are so many low information voters out there that create this built in block of guaranteed votes for people who don't have the experience or qualities of a good candidate for office (and yes, I'm including the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in that group). I could go on and on... and probably will as the thoughts come to me. :)Vaporman87Sep 29, 2013View
3831FantasiaWhen you watch the first segment of Fantasia, which is when Toccata and Fugue is being played, your mind feels like it's elsewhere. Mr MagicSep 29, 2013View
3830Halloween Nostalgia & More!At last... Frute Brute & Fruity Yummy Mummy are mine! Pretty good flavor for both, though I prefer Frute Brute's Cherry flavor to the Orange Creme flavor of FYM. :DVaporman87Sep 29, 2013View

3824Elementary Schools Live On
blueluigi wrote : The elementary school I went to is still there. In fact, I was looking through some of their staff members on the official website, and most of the teachers and staff members from when I went was still there.
That would put a smile on my face. Just knowing that things had not changed much since I had left there. :XD:
shakin steak wrote : I've posted a satellite view of my first elementary school on this board before...a very unique building, a circular part that held the classrooms at one end, with a courtyard in the middle, connected by a hallway to a rectangular part that held the office, nurse, and multipurpose room (gym/lunchroom/auditorium). As far as I know it's still operating. 800 miles away, but my mom likes to kerp me updated on what's happening over there so if it closed I think I would know. Anyway, community centers are nice. I'm glad to see schools live on that way (especially in this economy where so much stuff gets shut down and other stuff I could bitch about...) Schools, and I really love buildings, architecture, planning, sociology--old schools are some of the most amazing buildings.
I don't remember seeing that satellite view of your school. At least if the buildings themselves live on as community centers and such, then there is that comfort that that part of your history is not completely erased from the face of the earth, living on only in your memories. And, perhaps, we can revisit them as well.Vaporman87Sep 28, 2013View
